In The Beginning: Gospel Gleanings
There is so much to learn from the Bible about our attitude towards Beginnings. Without much ado, let us dive straight into these 5 lessons. Remember to keep each at your fingertips (on your dominant hand, of course!)
- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1).
How did God feel starting this new thing? Knowing He is omniscient makes me even more curious. God knew the outcome of the world and mankind, knew we could betray Him, knew many things could go wrong, and yet he forged ahead with this agenda, creating you, me and everyone else. He must have seen something more than the possible challenges, and what He saw must have been worth His effort and time.
The Thumb: I must definitely be worth God’s time!
- In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands (Psalm 102: 25).
The tallest building in the world today- the Burj Khalifa, did not exist from the beginning, but it stands as an edifice, the world’s architectural skyline, all planted on a foundation of dust because someone was not afraid to dream, or to build patiently from the ground up! See how the beginning of a matter is nothing compared to the end of it (Ecc. 7:8).
The Index Finger: Your future project can’t wait to give credit to your humble start-up!
- This is the message you heard from the beginning: we should love one another (1 John 3:11).
I remember my days in primary school when Love meant nothing more than a cute heart shape drawn on sand or paper. I know better now. I have grown to find it is deeper than the depths of everything and older than the foundations of the earth. Its epitome- God- even founded all we see from the depths of it. And because we were born from it, all answers are drawn from it. Do you want an antidote to heart break, hurt or damage? The balm is in His Love.
The Middle Finger: Let love spur you on to achieving great things!
- In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1).
We all become what we hear, see and meditate upon, just the way we all look what we eat and do. On a journey with many forks on the road, a beautiful destination requires the right map, pointers and factors; it requires the cartographer’s blueprint, it requires the cartographer. Who did you hear when you commenced this journey? Whose map are you using? Yours or the blueprint?
The Ring Finger: You just cannot go wrong with the Word of God!
- Are you so foolish? After beginning with the spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort (Gal. 3:3).
Don’t judge me for releasing the harshest wine last. You see this Born Again journey, we began it by faith, and we will have to continue that way to survive. Spirit meat only makes sense to a belly full of Faith and absolute Trust, as source, sustenance and conclusion.
The Little Finger: I don’t know about you but since God is my source, He must be thoroughly involved in all my start-ups!
Congrats on a brand new decade!
Congrats on this new day!
You made it to this minute…woohoo!
A second just passed you by…did you realize?
